Type · what happens when you stop paying
Most note apps answer the question "what happens when I stop paying?" with silence, and you find out the day your files turn read-only, your shared notebook stops being shared, or an export button quietly disappears.
This page is the answer, written down before you pay. Every sentence here matches §7.4 and §8 of the terms of use — if the two ever disagree, the terms win, and that is the document you can hold us to.
Whether you cancel, let it lapse or a payment fails: nothing you created is deleted.
Point 1 is earned with the first payment for the yearly plan (not during the free trial, when nothing is charged) and stays even after a refund; monthly subscriptions do not accrue it. Points 2 and 3 apply to everyone, on every plan. Version history and the trash are visible for the last 7 days again; older versions stay stored and come back with Pro.
Settings gives you one ZIP file: your notes as Markdown and JSON, your notebooks and every attachment. Free accounts included. Nothing is held hostage.
Two plans, no third tier, no add-ons. Prices in euro. Prices are gross and include VAT.

Your account moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted. If you have ever paid for the yearly plan, your shared notebooks stay unlimited forever. Every file you had already uploaded stays readable and downloadable. New uploads are measured against the Free allowance of 1 GB, so if you are already above it, a new upload is refused until you free up space or subscribe again — but nothing already stored is touched. Version history and the trash show the last 7 days again; older versions stay stored and come back with Pro.
No. There is no downgrade cleanup step in Type, by design. You do not choose which notebooks to keep and which files to lose, because you do not lose any.
No, and we say so on purpose. The permanent unlimited shared-notebook allowance is earned with the first payment for the yearly plan, and it stays even after a refund. Monthly subscriptions give you everything else in Pro while they run, but they do not accrue that allowance.
From settings, on any plan. You get a single ZIP file containing your notes as Markdown and as JSON, your notebooks and every attachment. There is no export paywall and no waiting queue.
30 days, no questions asked: write to billing@type-note.app within 30 days of a payment and we refund it in full. App Store purchases are refunded by Apple only, at reportaproblem.apple.com. That promise is given voluntarily and is broader than the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU, EEA and UK, which still applies in full and is described in the terms of use.
In your account settings, at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for — you keep Pro until then and you are not charged again.
Not retroactively. Prices can change for future billing periods, and we notify you at least 30 days before a change takes effect for your subscription, so you can cancel before it does. A period you have already paid for is never re-priced.
The first 25 pairs that subscribe to the annual plan pay €29.99 for the first year, then €39.99 a year. One subscription covers both of you, so the 25 seats are 25 pairs. It applies to the annual plan bought on the website or in the app outside the App Store, and ends when the 25 seats are taken or on the announced date, whichever comes first. A seat is freed when we refund the whole first-year payment; deleting an account does not free it. The counter on the pricing section is read from the server, so it shows the real number of seats or no number at all.
This is a plain-language summary, not the contract. The binding wording — including the parts about acceptable use, liability and governing law — is in the terms of use. Where this page is shorter or simpler than the terms, the terms apply.
Type is a young product built by a small team. What it does today is described on the English landing page; we would rather under-promise here than have you find out the difference after paying.
